My great-aunt, Minnie Laura Wood married a Palmer around 1922 or 1924. No information on first name is given on marriage record. I am very interested in finding information. Thanks, Ivalien Belcher March, 1984 I am gathering information on the descendants of Isham and Sally (Burch) Barnard, who lived and raised 13 children in the Kibler Valley of Patrick County, Va. We believe Isham was born in what is now Patrick County. (Henry County at the time of his birth), and Sally was born in Surry County, NC, daughter of William and Mary Burch. Their children and spouses were" Lucy, married James McGuffey; Tirea, married Eliza Scott; Melinda, married John Stanley; Mary, married Thomas B. Shelor; Nancy, (no information); James, married Elizabeth Thompson; Mahala, married Richard Thompson; Charles, married Delila Thompson; Lemina, married James Jennings; Lucy Ann, married Samuel Green Adams; Isham, (no information); William, never married. I hope eventually to compile a book of information on these lines, and would be delighted to hear from anyone giving (or asking for) information. Your postage will be refunded if you request it. Xeroxed copies of family records containing names and dates would be most helpful. I am looking forward to hearing from all of you! Sincerely, Vera Barnard Seigler Seeking information about ancestors and descendants of Benjamin Moody who with wife Rhody was in Caldwell County, NC in 1850. He had a large family, later migrated to Johnson Co., Tenn. Any information greatly appreciated, will answer all letters. Mrs. Sam Pitchford April, 1984 I think your paper is one of the best. No bad news, just wonderful stories. I look forward every month to the next issue. I know your paper reaches out to a lot of readers, so I hope someone out there can help me. I'm trying to locate the relatives of James L. and Hula Portis. It seems someone put a new stone on their graves. He was my grandfather, John Portis's brother and has been dead for years. It may have been the grandchildren, etc. My uncle, Walter Portis in Lexington, North Carolina is the only living Uncle I have left, and they are planning a Portis reunion May 6, 1984. I would like to hear from anyone who knows any Portis to write me or my cousin. There are so few left. Hoping to hear from someone out there, and keep up the good work. I live on Shooting Creek (Franklin County). Sincerely, Elizabeth Portis Harris Or write to: Mrs. Vozelle Portis I would greatly appreciate information on the daughters of Andrew Dickerson of Snake Creek area, Carroll County: Mrs. Nancy Bowman, Fancy Gap, Va.
