"The Heart of the Blue Ridge"

Flowers - What Does It All Mean?

In days gone by, when a boy gave flowers to a girl, it meant something. Different flowers had different meanings attached to them and relayed a secret message beyond their pretty and sweet smelling appearance.

I recently ran across a list of several different flowers with their meanings and thought you might like to know what grandma knew. Also, you might choose that next bouquet of flowers for that special person with some extra thought of your choices. If you're an old fashioned, romantic sort of person, why not enclose a card with the secret message.

White Clover - Think of me.

Sweet Pea - Depart or I leave you.

White Hyacinth - Your beauty is recognized.

Ivy - I cling to you.

White Rose - I will be worthy of you.

Red Rose - True Love

Peach Blossum - I am captivated by you.

Four-leaf Clover - Be mine.

Goldenrod - Be on your guard

Fern - You fascinate me.

Geranium - I wish to console you.
