Mountain Memories: Mother’s Day is in the month of May so, as a tribute to the mountain mothers who often endured hardships uncomplainingly and showed ingenuity and resourcefulness beyond belief to lovingly provide for their families, we will dedicate our Mountain Memories column to them.

BACKROADS: We’ll visit a breathtakingly beautiful section of Carroll County which we guarantee you’ll love.

Craftspeople: You will meet a banjo maker from Patrick County, a fiddle maker from Floyd County and a dulcimer maker from Carroll County.

Browsing Around: We’ll take a look at some really unique real estate that’s for sale in Carroll, Floyd and Patrick Counties.

Feature: A special “Mountain Music” feature will take a look at the music and musicians who are carrying on the traditional music of the mountains. We’ll also tell you about music makers of yesterday. Music has always been an important part of the lives of the people in this area and we hope to share some of their stories with you.

Feature: There’s more than gold in “them thar hills!” There’s copper! We’ll take you to a section in Floyd County where it was mined.

Plus: Many other articles and stories from the “Heart of the Blue Ridge.”
