Lucky Seven?

By Ethel Vass © 1983

Issue: September, 1983

Mrs. Ethel Vass of Hillsville, Virginia, wrote to us about her mother-in-law, Mrs. Elva F. Vass and the coincidence about how many times the number “7” turned up in her life.

Mrs. Vass was born September 30, 1882. September was derived from the Latin word septum, meaning seven. She married the seventh son of fourteen (2x7) children when she was 19 years, 7 months and fourteen (2x7) days old. That was May 14th (2x7) 1902. She had seven sons. The first was born when she was 21 (3x7) years of age. The last was born when she was 35 (5x7) years of age. She had 21 (3x7) grandchildren.

She changed residence seven times during her married life. She died after seven years of agony and suffering at the age of 77 years 7 months and 7 days. She died during the seventh hour of the morning, on the seventh day of the week (Saturday) on the seventh of May, 1960.
