Genealogy - August, 1991

Issue: August, 1991

[Dear Editor,]
I am seeking information on Benjamin and Elizabeth Sweeney who lived on Nicidas Creek near Endicott, Va. in Franklin County in 1800. I would like to know the location of the cemetery in which they were buried. Benjamin, a Methodist minister, was granted a right to solemnize marriages in the 1802 Franklin County Court.

One son, Joel Sweeney married Nancy Moore, daughter of Benjamin Moore of Franklin County. They were my great-grandparents. Another son, Jonathan Sweeney married Dicey Parker.

I would appreciate any information anyone can give me.

[Dear Editor,]
I am would appreciate any information on George Birdwell of Stafford County, VA (1721-1781) who migrated to Botetourt County with wife and one child in 1751. Twelve Birdwell Children born at homestead in Botetourt; 6th child, Benjamin is my line. My map research puts the 1751 settlement on the James River in the vicinity of Buchanan, perhaps along road number 43. The settlement was at the "bent" of the James River.

Would like to hear from any who may be of this line of family or later line in Sullivan County, Tennessee.
