[Dear Editor;]
I am tracing my family history. My grandfather was James Ewell Jefferson, born 1-1-1872, in Patrick Co., Va. He had two brothers that I know of: Daniel "Dan" and Jack Jefferson. He also had three sisters: Mary Lou, Minnie and Jethinny. Mary Lou married John Harbor and at one time lived at the foot of Lovers Leap. Dan, at one time lived in Roanoke, VA. Minnie married a Fulcher, and Jethinny married a Rodgers. I would appreciate any information anyone could give me.

[Dear Editor;]
I am a descendent of Francis Amos who was b. VA 1773 and settled on Buffalo Creek and a stake on the Rockingham Co. Line in Stokes Co., N.C. Grandpa Francis came to Stokes in January 1807, this deed was not recorded at Danbury until the Spring Term of Court in 1817. They were not recorded in the NC 1810 census, however, 5 of their boys and one daughter were born before 1810. Neither have I found any bonefide evidence or record that they were living in VA or N.C. at that census. In the 1820 census, Grandpa Francis Amos was residing in the Snow Creek twp., Stokes Co. with his spouse, 5 boys and 3 girls. All these children were born in NC according to the 1850 census, except James who died before 1850 and Elizabeth the youngest girl who was born in Kentucky in 1817. Maybe that's where they were after 1807 and the Spring Term of Court in 1817.

I have much information about the above Amos family and would like to exchange with anyone who has any information on them. Especially what was grandma's name and why the family left Stokes and then came back about 12 or 15 years later. Maybe grandma did not return, if so her grave is not identified nor have I found any Bible records showing her death or name.

Slate Mills born 22 April, 1857. I need more information on those family names. I think they may have been born in Patrick Co. with a possibility they were from Stokes or Surry Co., N.C. [Dear Editor;]
I am searching for information on the Scales' family. They may have originated in Madison, NC and several settled in Patrick County (Ararat section). My grandfather, Joseph Cardwell Scales, was a twin and had 11 brothers and 3 sisters, Lottie, Mattie and Ruth. Ruth married Jim Jarrell and was given the Scales' family Bible, which traced the Scales family. My great-grandfather and Ruth's father may have been James Nathaniel (Shuck) Scales who married Susan Moore. If anyone has any information or knows the whereabouts of this Bible or anything about the Scales family, I would appreciate their contacting me.

[Dear Editor;]
I would like to hear from anyone having information on Lee Roy and Rachel Blancett Arrington. They were married September, 1834 in Patrick Co. Their children were Mary, William H., Susan, Lauinia, Adaline, Eliza and John possibly others).

Lauinia married Thomas Stanley October 2, 1860 in Patrick Co. They had Sallie Lou who is my great-grandmother. There is an oddity in this family maybe someone can help explain. My grandmother, my aunt and many of her cousins have had six fingers and her cousins have had six toes. This has appeared in many generations. Up until recently, I thought it came from the Stanley family. After acquiring a picture of Lauinia Arrington Stanley. I was quite surprised. She also had six fingers on each hand which is quite evident in the photo.

If anyone has information on Lee Roy or Rachel Blancett Arrington or the extra fingers. I would love to hear from you. I also would like to hear if anyone has old pictures of any of these people.

Any information I have, I will gladly share.
