Carrie Martin was one of ten students of the State Female Normal School who assumed the staff positions of the Farmville Herald for one special edition. A story in the Richmond Times Dispatch, Volume 1903, Number 16208, 5 April 1903 - Page 8, described each of the young ladies and their backgrounds.
