My Cat and Me

By Lyn Aydelette © 1991

Issue: July, 1991

My cat is sixteen years and more
He has a belly sag
anyone would deplore.
Now that I'm past sixty a bit
The flesh on my body
doesn't exactly fit.
Youth is wasted on the young they say,
We both were slim and active in our day
NOW I jog while he sleeps and eats and purrs,
I wish that I'd been born with furs.
