The Hills Are Calling Me

By Lucille Thomas Muckenfuss © 1985

Issue: November, 1985

I close my eyes and see
The mountains in the spring.
The winding roads covered
Where mountain laurels hang,
Their beauty my heart remembers
These visions I long to see.
And I know within my heart
The hills are calling me.

I see summer's flowers blooming;
They cover every hill.
Was there I gathered them as a child
And long to gather them still.
Their beauty my heart remembers
These visions I long to see
And I know within my heart
The hills are calling me.

I see the hills in autumn
Where riotous colors unfold
And there I stand in awe at
The beauty these mountains hold.
Their beauty my heart remembers
These visions I long to see
And I know within my heart
The hills are calling me.

I remember them in the winter
With each tree top covered in snow
And know that among these mountains
Is where I long to go.
Their beauty my heart remembers
These visions I long to see
And I know within my heart
The hills are calling me.
